in Grieving, Losing a Loved One

Losing a loved one is never easy.  But when the person you’ve lost is your spouse, it can be so devastating that it seems the grief might overtake you.  The connection you share with your life partner is unlike any other, and it’s understandable that you will mourn the loss of that connection.  And while every person grieves in his or her own way, there are some coping mechanisms that can help you get through this most difficult time.

Be sure to surround yourself with your network of friends and family.  Although you probably won’t feel up to socializing, you will no doubt find comfort in the presence of those individuals who hold your best interests at heart.  And remember that it is okay – even normal – to feel intense emotions at time.  Sadness, emotional pain, even anger are common reactions to the loss of a loved one, and while you might think that these feelings will never pass, rest assured that you have already begun the healing process.

While no one else can ever tell you how to grieve, others can offer you comfort and support.  The caring, qualified staff members at any of our Winston-Salem area funeral homes are always here to help – if you have any questions, or if you just need to talk.  Please feel free to call (336) 223-5202 or stop by any of our Winston-Salem area Dignity Memorial providers.  We’re here to hold your hand every step of the way.
